Update: We Have a Winner! It’s the First Ever Workies!

It’s about time innovative Human Resources leaders get the recognition they deserve. The team behind DisruptHR NYC has brought us The Workies, an award program that honors the HR professionals making waves in their field. The awards are taking place Thursday, October 24 during the 2019 Work Awesome Conference.

Here at Beneplace, we’re thrilled to see that a fellow Austinite, Angela L. Shaw, has been shortlisted for the HR Director of the Year award for her outstanding performance as the president of the Austin HR Management Association. An accomplished HR leader, dedicated mentor, and TEDx + public speaker, Ms. Shaw has touched the lives of so many other HR professionals. Antwon Horn, a former client, raves that “Angela Shaw is a true jewel to the world that is Human Resources.”

Also shortlisted are LaToya Lyn and Brett Frank. LaToya Lyn is up for her role as the employee relations and senior human resources business partner at Compass. Her passion for uniting people has driven LaToya throughout her illustrious career, earning her rave reviews along the way. “She is creative, fun, and great at mobilizing a group of people behind her to make anything possible,” says former employee Karly Rodriguez.

Brett Frank, a veteran of the recruiting world, is nominated for his starring role as the director of talent acquisition at Slalom, an innovative consulting firm headquartered in rainy Seattle, Washington. His showstopping work leading recruitment for Slalom Technology Enablement Practice has helped Slalom become one of Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work for in 2019. Client Kristy M. says Brett “brings a work hard, play hard work ethic, get-it-done attitude, plus he builds relationships beyond hiring with business partners and incoming staff.”

Congratulations, Angela, LaToya, and Brett!
