Five HR Conferences You Need to Attend

Too many conferences, not enough time? We’re here to help with a list of five conferences HR professionals across disciplines will find insightful and meaningful, a.k.a., worth the travel. If you hope to increase employee engagement, work with changing technology, or want to improve your recruitment techniques, we’ve got something for you.

1. The SHRM 2019 Talent Conference + Exposition, April 8–10, 2019, Nashville, TN

Talented candidates have their pick of open positions right now, which is why knowing how to set your organization apart from the competition is essential. With more than 80 sessions and 1,400 attendees, this conference on finding, recruiting, and engaging talent offers invaluable insight into the tight US labor market. Session topics include career development as a recruiting tool, engagement surveys, and working with hiring managers.

2. Indeed Interactive, May 13–15, 2019, Austin, TX

Indeed’s conference on hiring success features some fascinating speakers diving into some relevant and critical topics, and I don’t just say that because Indeed and Beneplace share a hometown. I do say that because one of the keynote speakers is Amy Poehler, however. Indeed boasts some other pretty remarkable speakers too: Kevin Kwan, author of Crazy Rich Asians, Chris Hyams, Indeed’s CEO, and Paul Wolfe, Indeed’s Senior Vice President of Human Resources.

3. The Bridge Between Work and Technology, Hosted by UNLEASH, May 14 & 15, 2019, Las Vegas, NV

Not only is the UNLEASH conference one of the biggest HR tech conferences of the year, but with speakers including Edward Snowden and the co-founder of HR Open Source, it’s also one of the most daring. You may disagree with everything you hear at this conference, but you won’t be bored. Plus, if you’re anything like me, you’ll be grateful to know that the agenda includes multiple coffee breaks.

4. ASHHRA Annual Conference and Exposition, September 21–24, 2019, Chicago, IL

This is the must-go conference for HR professionals in the healthcare world. You’ll get to hear experts dissect HR topics unique to healthcare and earn Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) and Professional Development Credits (PDCs). Even better, it’s held in beautiful and historic downtown Chicago.

5. HCI’s 2019 Employee Engagement Conference, July 29–31, 2019, Denver, CO and Online

If employee engagement is more than a buzzword to you, this is the conference you need to attend this year. Whether attending in Denver or online, you’ll learn more about the strategies and technologies you can use to keep your employees engaged. Workshop topics include performance conversations, mapping employee experiences, and onboarding. Most of the keynote speeches, interactive sessions, and workshops are available for online attendees as well as those on location.

I hope these postings have helped you narrow down your list of potential conferences. What awesome conferences did we forget? Let us know in the comments.
